Shameless Copying

So, I blogged a while ago about someone who was copying my cards. I have been trying my absolute hardest since then to ignore her and just put all of my energies into my shop and products rather than into her and what she is doing. That's why I have avoided any more blog posts or anything. Anyway, I have just been sent a link to this card of 'hers'!

And it's even being promoted by Etsy. I don't know what to do or say really. I am just so shocked about the blatantness (if that's a word!). Here's my one which I am currently selling and sold this time last year.

There are lots more cards in her shop which I think are just too similar to mine too. I'm not going to say anything else now while I'm so upset. I'm shaking! If you have any tips or suggestions on what I can/should do about this then please let me know.

So sorry to see this happening to you. I hope you have reported it to all the sites where the copied design is being sold?

Wow - I honestly don't think I have ever seen copying so shameless, you poor thing. It must feel rotten, but at least it doesn't seem to be on Etsy anymore. Just keep telling yourself that you are the one with creativity and therefore longevity, anyone who copies falls into the talentless annoying blip in life category.

Lovely cards :)

I am very sorry - I'd never seen this card before but appreciate it is a VERY similar design, so have removed all listings of it as soon as someone alerted me to it. So sorry again

I love your shop!!! I'm so sorry about the copying thing. Don't let it phase you. I really believe as my grandmother (kinda quoting the bible) said: "what goes around, comes around!"

Keep doing your thing!

OMG, I just saw this featured on the Etsy blog this morning! I am so sorry to see this happen to you. It's ridiculous how people can stoop so low as to copying someone else's work - to me that means that they have no creativity and are mooching off of someone's talent!

Do you have a Creative Commons license or anything? That may help with something...

just keep being original and making the wonderful things that you do :) After successfully copying your work, now this person has now very successfully created a very bad name for themselves...

Its so not fair to be copied, its happened to me in the past. Some people simply search the internet for creative ideas not truely theirs. Taking a positive from it, its YOUR original idea, its YOUR creative flair and to be copied is the best form of flattery :o)

Whoa! So shocked at this. I just wanted to register my support for you. Just remember you are successful because you are an innovator, not a parasite! :)

Oh it is so sad when you read about this, I thought the whole idea of being a crafter is being unique and putting a little something of yourself in each of your creations...people who blatantly copy are just trying to make a quick buck and its the genuine crafters that suffer. I feel your pain, I do hope that it is resolved quickly for you. And I agree her cards are very similar to yours.

I've bought one of your cards before and I have to say they are beautifully made so please dont feel disheartened by peoples dishonesty. We know you're the 'genuine thing'. Hugs xxx

That really sucks dear, there are some very similar cards to yours on there. Report it to etsy, post it to youthoughtwewouldntnotice.com and keep your chin up.

Your loyal fans realise that yours are the originals

Unfortunately in this day and age nothing stays original for long and with so many people in the world it is inevitable that somewhere 2 people will come up with a similar idea without realising - it is a HUGE world out there after all. Your work is gorgeous so keep your chin up, keep smiling and keep making your cards - they're lovely!

I'm so sorry girl! I have an Etsy cookie shop and I have a girl who copies my designs. It's shameless because she sells way more cookies than me.

As a fellow designer, this really angers me. I have never understood why these people at least try to do something a little different?! I agree that you just have to let all whole world know about it. On a positive note, I would love to feature you as an upcoming Friday Follower on my blog. Please contact me if you are interested :)
